Jumping Ropes: Cheapest but Effective way to lose weight

The past month was a busy month for me. I can’t follow my usual routine which is to spend two hours in a local gym. I can’t even find time to run for 30 minutes. So I decided to jump. Jump rope that is.

So I dig up my dads closet to see if the old rope still exist. It really isn’t my day. I can’t find the rope and according to my Father the rope was long gone.

Benefits of Jumping

Like running Jump rope training is a good cardio workout. With the rainy season coming this is a good replacement. Jump rope training will enhance: (according to www.rossboxing.com)

So I started the bike and went to the nearest sporting goods shop which is at SM City Taytay. I was really surprise to know that the price for a jumping rope is only Php 150 – 200 and this are good quality rope. For low class rope cost only less Php 100. I would say that jumping rope is the cheapest cardio exercise there is. All you need is the rope and a good space where you can jump and that’s it.

How to Jump Rope

I’m telling you right now. It’s not easy to do Jump rope training. It takes a lot of practice and patience. When I started, I can’t even do 3 jumps without tripping the rope to my foot.

But with practice, patience and determination, I now can do 200 jumps successfully. But that is just the tip of the ice berg. Jump rope training is not just jumping. There are a lot of jump rope training, so all your hard work to learn jump rope is just the basic.

Running in place

The easiest rope skipping patterns to learn. You remain stationary, lifting your knees high with each turn of the rope. Essentially you will be running in place with high knees, with the addition of a fast spinning rope. This style of rope work is easy to learn, and excellent for conditioning.

Double unders

Double under is another popular skipping pattern. This style of skipping is more difficult to learn.You will make two turns of the rope for every one jump. Keep the feet together, jumping with both feet at the same time. Do not attempt double unders until you become proficient with the running in place variation.

Criss-cross patterns

You will cross the arms at the elbows on the downward swing of the rope. Jump through the loop of the rope that is formed in front of your body. Uncross the arms on the next downward swing. Continue to criss-cross the rope in this alternating fashion.

With that said I have a long way to go.
