The 6th Angono Kite Festival

[ad#1adlink]

It was a quick ride from Ortigas to Angono.

Need to attend my first Angono Kite Festival was the only thing running in my head. To my surprise when I heard that these is the 6th Angono Kite Festival. What was I doing in the last 5 years that I missed such a great festival in my home town? I’ve live at Angono since I was 5. I’ve never heard that there was a kite festival. I’ve asked my friends about it, and most of them don’t know of it either. So we decided to meet at 3pm at Wawa (lake).

But first I need to at least be at the last part of the festival for me to officially be a part of it. I was coming from an earlier engagement at Ortigas. I said my goodbyes with Gadget Magazine of the Pinoy_Blogfest 1.0. Then hurried to the basement parking and ride my way to Angono.

It took me 30 – 40 mins to race my way through the traffic. I didn’t even bother to leave my stuff at home and directly went to the Kite Festival. I was really feeling anxious, because I was almost an hour late.

The place was packed with people. Kites of all sizes were in the sky enjoying the limelight of the event. People in all corners are all looking up to watch the colourful kites as they sour up.

One of the Judges is a Mayoral candidate Mr. Nemi Miranda or I always call him Mang Nemi. His is a family friend and a known artist not only in Rizal but the whole nation.

You can see in everyones faces the content in watching the kite festival. Kids running around to be a part of it. I was going around the field to get a good spot so that I wont be directly facing the sun when I take photos.

According to the information I have gathered, there were about 40 participants combine in both categories (kids and adult).

Wawa lake: a famous place in Angono

The Festival was really something. Different colors and shape rule the skies in that afternoon. A big goose, grasshopper, butterfly, and even a flying motorcycle can be seen riding in the air.

See you all next year.

We have a huge number of colorful giant geometric kites ranging from two box to 30 box geometric kite with size ranging from 4ft by 10ft to 10 ft by 24ft and we want to fly it in the forthcoming 7TH ANGONO KITE FESTIVAL if said activity will pushed through. It will be a lot of fun as this kites are one of its kind. See you there. Where could we possibly ask details of such activity? I hope we could revive the BearBrand Kitefestival which has been inactive for the past 5 years. I dont want that the culture and tradition of Kite flying and making will be phased out in the minds of the youth.
